Welcome
I'm Chris Calabrese and I am running for Freeholder because I know that Bergen County can do better.
Our County government can work harder, spend smarter, do more for our communities, and get more for our money.
I want the chance to bring out the best in our County Government.
Last year I made the commitment to public service and ran for Bergen County Freeholder. This year I've renewed my pledge: to work as hard as possible and win a voice for the people on the Board of Freeholders.
For too many years there has been a one-party stranglehold on the levers of government in Bergen County. This needs to change.
I believe that 2009 will be a turning point for Bergen County.
As every week passes, local journalists are bringing to light more and more cases of government spending designed not with the citizens in mind - but calculated simply to maintain the trappings of power. At its worst, this practice creates excuses to spend where no real problem exists - keeping scarce resources from those who truly are in need.
It needs to stop. We need to take back our county.
Eliminate the waste. Reduce spending on non-essential programs. Reduce the entanglements with special interests and give back fair and balanced government to our citizens.
I believe this is the year where people will finally stand up and say "NO MORE!" to the status quo.
With your help and support, this November we will make our stand and restore not just Bergen County, but the very principle that elected officials must be held accountable and judged by their actions.
Vote Calabrese, make a difference.
